Dear Colleagues,
We have received a proposal from George Wiggans that would lead to an improved pedigree file. Under the proposal, each country should include in its fmt 010 file rows for all bulls with its country code that appeared in the previous Interbull fmt 012 file, thus providing authoritative pedigrees for all existing bulls. In addition, we will indicate rows in the fmt 012 file that originates from the authoritative source, with a label. This proposal will be integrated into the new Code of Practice.
Please remember also that you are expected to provide rows in the fmt 010 file for all bulls as soon as the identity information is stable and reliable. The validation process could then be completed long before a bull has daughters in 10 herds.
